Trucks Are the Money Here
Given what the local economy runs on, most of what we collect in Redwater has a box on the back — and that's the highest-value category we handle.
Weight. A half-ton carries roughly double the recoverable metal of a compact car. A three-quarter or one-ton diesel carries close to triple. Scrap value is fundamentally a function of mass, so that gap exists before anything else is assessed.
Alberta parts demand. Transfer cases, differentials, transmissions, axles, alloy wheels, tailgates, boxes and mirrors for common half-tons move quickly in this province, and especially in rural areas where those trucks are still on the road in numbers.
Diesels keep value even when the engine is dead. A Cummins, Duramax or Powerstroke with a failed engine still carries a heavy-duty transmission, transfer case, front and rear axles, a turbo, injectors and a high-pressure fuel pump.
Mounted equipment adds. Service bodies, decks, welding rigs, headache racks, fifth-wheel hitches, tool boxes and compressors are separately saleable. Describe what's on it.
One thing to be straight about: if a diesel has been emissions deleted, say so upfront. It's harder to return to the on-road market legally, which affects how the vehicle is valued — but the parts are still worth real money, and an honest description gets you an accurate quote instead of a renegotiation at your gate.
