Free Towing in Edmonton — Genuinely Free, Including the Difficult Pickups

“Free towing” is the most abused phrase in this industry. It usually means one of three things: free within a small radius and charged beyond it, free unless the vehicle needs winching, or free in the sense that the cost was quietly subtracted from your offer before you ever heard a number.

Ours means none of those things. When we buy your vehicle, the tow costs you nothing, it isn't deducted from your payout, and it doesn't come with conditions about access, distance or whether the car rolls.

Free towing pickup for a vehicle in Edmonton

What Free Actually Covers

Every one of the following is included, at no charge:

  • Flatbed dispatch anywhere in our service area
  • Winching — for vehicles that won't roll, won't steer, or won't move at all
  • Garage extraction, attached or detached
  • Back alley and rear pad access, including winter lanes
  • Long-distance runs to the outer communities we serve
  • Multiple vehicle pickups from one property
  • Loading a vehicle with no wheels, no keys or no brakes

There is no fee schedule. There is no fuel surcharge. There is no “difficulty adjustment” applied on arrival. The only thing that ever changes a quote is discovering the vehicle isn't what was described — a missing engine or a catalytic converter that was cut off, for example. Access difficulty is our problem to solve, not yours to pay for.

The Equipment, and Why It Matters to You

Most vehicles we collect can't be towed conventionally, which is why the truck that shows up matters.

Flatbed (tilt deck).

The default for end-of-life vehicles. The deck tilts to the ground and the car is winched on. Nothing rolls, nothing needs to steer, and all four wheels leave the pavement — which is essential for all-wheel-drive vehicles and for anything with a seized drivetrain.

Winch.

The component that makes junk vehicle recovery possible. A car with four flat tires, locked-up calipers and a transmission in park can still be dragged onto the deck.

Dollies and skates.

For tight quarters where a vehicle needs to be repositioned sideways before it can be loaded — narrow garages and packed parkades in particular.

Wheel-lift.

Occasionally useful in extremely tight urban access where a flatbed physically cannot position, though for scrap work it's the exception.

What this means practically: you do not need to get the vehicle running, rolling or moved before we arrive. People sometimes spend a weekend trying to free up a seized brake so the tow truck can take it. Don't. That's what the winch is for.

Difficult Pickups We Handle Routinely

Edmonton's housing stock produces a lot of awkward vehicle locations. These are the ones we're asked about most.

01

Inside a garage.

Extremely common, especially in older neighbourhoods like Highlands, Ritchie and Westmount where a detached garage opens onto a narrow lane. The vehicle is winched out through the door. Clear a path — boxes, bikes, the deep freeze — and we handle the rest.

02

Underground parkade.

Doable, but measure your clearance before booking. Most residential parkades run somewhere in the range of six to seven feet, which no flatbed will enter. Vehicles are typically brought up using dollies and a smaller unit, then loaded at street level. Tell us the clearance height and stall number when you call so the right equipment is dispatched, and check whether your building requires notice to management.

03

Back alley in winter.

A rear lane in Parkdale in January, half-drifted with a windrow across the entrance, is a genuine obstacle. We run through it, but the driver needs enough space to position and hook up. Clear what you reasonably can. If the lane is impassable, we'll schedule around the City's clearing.

04

Snow route parking ban.

If a ban is declared and the vehicle is on a designated snow route, it needs to move or it can be ticketed and towed at your expense. Call us before that happens rather than after.

05

Buried in snow.

Dig out enough that the driver can reach the front or rear of the vehicle and attach a strap. Fully drifted-in vehicles may need a rescheduled window.

06

Acreage or back field.

Vehicles that have sat on rural property outside Ardrossan, Redwater or Westlock for years often sink into the ground. We plan for it. Let us know the ground conditions and how far from a usable approach it sits.

07

Apartment or condo lot.

Coordinate with property management for a window. Some buildings require it.

08

Impound or storage lot.

We can often arrange the release directly if you provide the necessary authorization, which saves you a trip.

09

Steep or narrow driveway.

Common in river valley properties near Riverbend and Rio Terrace. Flatbeds need approach room; if it's tight, describe it and we'll assign accordingly.

10

No keys.

Not a problem for a flatbed pickup. It doesn't affect the tow, and on a junk vehicle it rarely affects the offer.

What You Need to Do Before the Truck Arrives

Keep it short:

01

Remove your licence plates.

In Alberta the plates are yours. Take them off before we load — after that it's a trip to the registry.

02

Clear personal belongings.

Check under the seats, in the spare tire well, behind the visors and in the glovebox. Nothing comes back.

04

Clear an access path.

If the vehicle is in a garage or behind other cars, make enough room for the driver to work.

05

Cancel your insurance after the sale.

Not before — you may be owed a prorated refund.

You'll sign a bill of sale listing the VIN, odometer, price and both parties, and you'll be paid before the vehicle is loaded.

Where Free Towing Applies

Everywhere we buy. That's all of Edmonton — from Castle Downs and Griesbach in the north through the core and Old Strathcona, out to West Edmonton and Windermere, down through Terwillegar, Ellerslie and Summerside — plus Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Spruce Grove, Leduc, Fort Saskatchewan, Beaumont, Stony Plain, Devon, Morinville, Bon Accord, Wetaskiwin, Camrose, Vegreville and Drayton Valley.

Distance doesn't reduce your offer. A rural pickup and a driveway in Mill Woods get the same treatment.

One Thing This Page Is Not

This is free towing as part of buying your vehicle. It isn't roadside assistance — if your car has broken down and you want it taken to a repair shop, you need a conventional tow company, and we'd rather tell you that plainly than waste your time.

If the vehicle has reached the end of its road, though, this is the cheapest possible exit: it leaves for free and you're paid for it. See junk car removal or cash for non-running cars.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is towing really free, with no conditions?

Yes, when we're buying the vehicle. No distance limit within our service area, no winching charge, no fee deducted from your payout.

Can you tow a car that doesn't roll or steer?

Yes. Flatbed and winch. Seized brakes and missing wheels are routine.

Can you get a vehicle out of an underground parkade?

Usually. Measure the clearance height first and tell us when booking, and check whether your building needs advance notice.

Do you tow from garages?

Yes, attached or detached. Clear a path to the vehicle and we'll winch it out.

How much notice do you need?

Most pickups are same or next day. Winter conditions and rural distance can extend that.

Do I need to be present?

Someone authorized to sign the bill of sale and provide ownership documents must be there.

Will you tow my car to a mechanic?

No — this is vehicle-purchase towing, not roadside assistance.
